Downtown Florist is the best florist in the Massena area. You can trust them to get the job done. :)

On Sunday evening I placed an order for an arrangement of flowers to be delivered to a friend who had just delivered a sleeping angel baby and was holding a service for her daughter at her home. On Monday morning, I received a call from this florist saying they would not deliver the arrangement unless I could provide the grieving mother's phone number so they could call before they drove to her home. Not wanting to burden the mother further, I refused, and so the florist cancelled the order because, they said, it was too inconvenient to drive a half hour out of their way for this delivery, despite the address being within their delivery area.

So, I'm sorry to Downtown Florist. If I ever have need to send flowers in upstate New York, I will certainly make sure I do not inconvenience this florist with my business. I truly pray no one at this flower shop ever experiences the inconvenience of losing a child.

I would definitely order from these florists again. I'm not from Massena and our cousin had just had a baby. I placed the order the same day they were delivered. They told me they would be delivered to her home in a couple of hours and they did just that. They were friendly and professional. The flowers were absolutely beautiful. They looked exactly like they did online. Thank you all so much again!

We are a family run business celebrating 15 years in business! We take great pride and are passionate in serving the Massena area with the freshest flowers! We would like to thank our customers for their longtime support! These comments are very unfortunate because it definatly does not reflect our business. I do not agree with posting personal information regarding a death and using it to satisfy your personal vandeta. We handle sympathy on a daily basis with the upmost respect for the family. We do have rules because of our rural area and must abide by them. We require a phone number for all deliveries and yes we do have delivery area boundaries and timing constraints.

I called this flower shop in my morning (I'm in CA) to try to sort out an order placed on Sunday. This florist was demanding a phone number, as the delivery was 20 minutes away from her. She said that she did not understand the order or the location. She also criticized my order, saying that it was inappropriate. I was more than willing to give her more information and concede to her professional judgement, even stating that I was willing to pay more. I called back with more information regarding the address, but I refused to give her a number, as I did not want the recipient bothered with phone calls. This shop owner was not understanding, at all. She canceled my order. She refunded me. However, I just simply cannot understand a florist that cannot work with someone delivering an arrangement to a grieving person and understanding that phone calls would not be welcome. She said she "had a bad feeling about this order". I have a bad feeling about ordering flowers from someone who isn't able to navigate situations where people are grieving. It's kind of like .... Their job!?!?!?

I believe I owe Downtown Florist an apology, because they are exactly right. Inconvenient is precisely the word to describe this situation. I am certain that when the doctor saw that the baby on the ultrasound had only half a heart, he thought, "oh man, this is going to be inconvenient. I have another appointment to get to." And when the expectant mother called everyone who wanted to know the sex, she probably said "it's a girl! And also, I have some inconvenient news." When she told her husband, I'm guessing his first thought was "well this is super inconvenient. I'm going to have to take time off work and get someone to feed the dog while we stay at the hospital to deliver my dead child."

Downtown Florist is THE go-to florist for the Massena area. The staff is extremely friendly and go out of their way to accommodate. The creativity that goes into their floral arrangements are second to none.

And you would think after experiencing such inconvenience themselves, the parents would have been more considerate of not inconveniencing others. Why hold the service at their home? It's super inconvenient for things like flower delivery and it's not like the baby ever got to sleep in the nursery her parents were preparing. And why hold the service on a Monday, because orders for these sorts of things probably back up over the weekend. It would have been way more convenient if the baby had come on a slower day for flowers. I feel like I should say I'm sorry to Downtown Florist because asking them to make the inconvenient 30 minute drive was completely unreasonable of me. After all, why drive longer than the baby girl even lived? And I understand that the flower arrangement itself was also inconvenient. See, there aren't any flowers for baby funerals on the website, I guess because baby funerals are generally too inconvenient to send flowers to, so it was definitely totally out of line that I expected the florist to take some extra time with these particular flowers to make sure they were appropriate for the occasion. Again, a major inconvenience.

I've seen a couple of posts from people that I am sure are not rating Downtown Florist correctly. Please rest assured, your order will be taken care of with Downtown Florist. One of these posts suggest that the florist would not deliver 7 miles out, when in reality they wanted it same day within an unreasonable time frame. The other two comments from people in California refused to provide a phone number in case the delivery driver could not find the address. It is very rural in this area and it has happened too many times to Downtown Florist that the delivery driver gets 30 minutes out and cannot find the address provided and then has no one to call. It is then a loss of money for the business and the business cannot sustain operation at a loss.
